We did it, Fresnans. We broke the terrible record we set last time Nico Vega played Fresno of only 12 people showing. Audie's had a very respectable 80+ show last night, and it didn't go unnoticed by the band:
Always nice to know when bands pay attention to the local blogosphere.
Anyway, Nico Vega did an amazing set. Our cheap video does them little justice but here it is anyway:

Congrats to Trumpet Solo, Goat and Red Fang for kicking ass last night at Audie's. Trumpet Solo clip:

By the way, Fuck yes to Red Fang. They're like Soundgarden if they went to 11. Attempts at taking video of Goat resulted in the goat sounds being too loud for a little iPhone to take. But they were pretty hardcore and awesome.

The crappy video below doesn't do them justice (even if it was good it wouldn't) but Mucca Pazza was some of the wildest, coolest, nerd-awesome stuff ever seen rolling through Fresno. If the fine folks at Love The Captive are ever able to bring them back: GO. Just for the experience alone.

Not going to get crazy with this reviewing stuff - Famous Whitewater has that down, not gonna mess with it. But last night... let's talk about last night at Audie's.
So there was this really good lineup setup for Tuesday: Quiet Americans, El Olio Wolof, The Growlers and The Fling. Wow. All four headliner quality in this blog's opinion. Gonna be a sweet show. Except it didn't really go down like that.
First, word spread that El Olio Wolof couldn't make it. Nobody would say for sure, but there was a bigish Giants game on and one of them really like the Giants - just a theory. Alright, still a cool show. But wait, another band isn't making it?: The Growlers. Some sorta story involving possible the jailing of somebody important to the band. Whatever it is, they ain't making it.
This is depressing because there was a Fresnan in attendance with a Growlers shirt on. They don't have a following in Fresno. A dude was there with a Grow-ler-s shirt, for Christ sake! That just doesn't happen around here. And he was denied.
Thankfully, Fresno's Quiet Americans come through and play. They sounded freaking great, by the way. Worth the now lowered door of $3, for sure. But there is no sign of the last remaining scheduled band: The Fling. This is looking like a one-band-plays show.

Wait. What's that rolling down Van Ness? A crusty van? There's no mistaking a band's van, yes it's The Fling. They got a flat and it took them some time to fix. What is normally a 4 to 5 hour trip from Long Beach, took 8. But they make it and immediately "load in" and are ready to go. They sounded excellent too. Really good band, everyone that stayed were treated to some fine music for sure.

The lesson here for Fresnan readers is this: Don't completely trust the posts about shows. Not the lineup, or cover, or anything. They should be just used as a guide. We know this only applies to the three of you that rely on this blog to find out where the bands are in Fresno, (we did a study, there's three... okay okay, two... one) but remember this anyways.

Love The Captive decided that Wednesday night's planned show at Frank's might be a bit more kick-ass if it were around the corner, out in front of Warnor's Theatre. We agree. And we're pissed we're not there right now.

Well hey, maybe you didn't miss the Fierce Creatures EP release party last night, cause a lot of Fresnans were there. Lucky things didn't work out at The Captive, as was originally planned, because they would have been turning most of Tuesday night's crowd away. So very awesome that there is a place like Frank's Place to fill in (even if last night didn't happen to have booze - normally it does, don't worry).

From the files of "Shit you don't care about but we wish you did" comes Belgium band Wallace Vanborn whom played Audie's Olympic last night. They were awesome. Really. After seeing these guys we wanna learn the national anthem of Belgium, make out with a nasty Belgium girl, buy several cases of Belgium beer and run to the highest peak of Belgium shouting "Belgium rock is the shit!"
We kinda feel like Patrick Contreras did after seeing Nico Vega at Audie's and nobody really showed. This was what last night was like: Amazing music that only a few of us got to see and it should not have been that way. Oh wells, at least we have our videos, although this one does not do the band justice:

Although it was more art than 'arch' (I was hoping for more architecture pieces), I was humbled by some of talent from last night's Archop event at Broadway Studios. People with more talent are always impressive and humble inducing, no matter what the field is.
