More good stuff from Dead In 60 Years. We thinks bands should be paying these guys to do videos for them, but it seems they're happy doing things for free ... sounds familiar.
Almost makes us want to go back to school and get a degree in something mass journalizzim oriented. Not that we need it because our shit is pretty tight here (we're hoping to get a Frebby for "least amount of design and proofreading by any blog ever").
We know the Beehive has its fine feature called "Did They Just Say Fresno?" We're jealous of it. But don't tell any Beehive-rs we said that 'cause we'll deny it!
Well this person on YouTube, Keviva007, has done some fine editing in a series she calls "Did Somebody Say Fresno?" Maybe it's coincidence or whatever, but she's done a couple already (that we posted a while back), and there is a third out to enjoy:
Stellar event last Saturday night with the Members Only Party at Storyland with Agent Ribbons, The Stone Foxes and Strange Vine. Hanging out in Storyland at night with top notch live music filling the air was very much nice.
The morning after, we're a little uncomfortable thinking of what exactly happened in one of the storybook displays as couples were seen walking off into the darkness many times Saturday night. Let's just say if Storyland still had its 'cherry' before Saturday, consider it popped. The Three Bears house will never be the same.
Side note: With all the appropriate praise folks bestow on Strange Vine's drummer Ian Blesse for doing three things at once while playing, we can forget what a good singer and guitarist ,Toby Cordova, is.
Proof of Toby's nice guitar work with our video clip from Saturday night:
Not a terrible version of what to expect when traveling to Fresno. But it has that "We spent an afternoon in town and this is what we came up with." feel. Read the whole article here. You would think FOX News would mention the hella-high conservatives-per-capita rate Fresno has. Maybe they ARE fair and balanced... *cough*
Thanks to the City Of Fresno's Facebook feed for the heads-up.
Face it. The shows we frequently post about happening at Chinatown Youth Center scare you a little bit. Interesting looking, but you ain't going down there. Well, the boys at Dead In 60 Years went down there for you last week and made a video. It may illuminate things.
Sure, the CYC may still frighten you some, but at least you know what the hell is going on. DIY kickassness is what's going on, foos:
Related: Fresno Famous, Joshua Tehee, played another popular DIY Fresno venue (Bel-Tower) last weekend and told readers about it.
We seem to remember, sometime fairly recently, that the Fresno Bike Kitchen was just a dude in a garage fixin' bikes. Well, it still kinda is... but it's much more than that and on a bigger and cooler scale than we had thought as this slick-ass commercial indicates:
One of the more talked about bands of last year was I Do Not Exist. After watching this nice video (shot by Kyle Lowe) from last weekend's Kuppajoes show, you can hear why. Great sound. Strong vocals. Check it:
Next live show for I Do Not Exist is... well, who knows? Book 'em, dammit.
This video of local indie-jazz-rock band, Tokyo Death March, has girls, drumming, a spider, dudes writing on windows, tortillas, and kitties. What more could you ask for!? Watch this!:
The Fresnan is a blog drunk on Fresno's sweet sweet booze.
We like posting about local music and random Fresno culture junk. We like Downtown, tri-tip, South of Shaw battles, tamales and remembering when there was a fig orchard at Herndon & Palm. We like to occasionally go to River Park but tell people we never go there.
