Central Valley Talk Is For Digital DieHards

While we still wait for Central Valley Talk to get on U Verse or Comcast or something, the folks at CVT keep cycling in new shows and broadcasting for the digital attena and website folks. Their latest new show comes from the Die Hard crew. We're guessing this one will have a lot to do with local music given that's a big part of what they're about. Sounds potentially good to us.

Monday Morning Hangover: We Got So Wasted At Greek Fest We Swear We Saw Kopi In A Dress

Ahhh, Kopi Sotiropulos. He's a character that one. But right now, we're kinda conflicted with our weatherman/morning show host. Ya see, he does all this goofy stuff (like walk around the Greek Festival in a dress - pictured right), plus he's a Fresno celebrity so he is such good fodder for snarky a-hole bloggers.

But, he is like the sweetest guy you'll ever come across. We stalked clocked him for a while at the festival on Saturday and all kinds of people were coming up to him, yellin shit at him and asking him for stuff, actin fools, but he was ultra nice to all of them.

So, is it still okay to snark on Kopi (because you know he's gonna keep on doing post worthy stuff)? Or is he too nice a guy and we should just leave him alone? Hmmm.

Anyway, the Greek Festival was freakin' packed on Saturday night, even with it being insanely hot and sweaty. And it got us thinking, the Greek Fest just might be the most well attended festival in Fresno - attendance was 15,000 plus.

We bet it's more than Vintage Days or Rogue or Reel Pride (coming soon) or Hmong festival, hell maybe even Cinco De Mayo. Just sayin', the Greek Fest folks seem to really know what they're doing (even if the food lines were insane)... plus they've got Kopi in a dress. Beat that.

The Central Valley Is A Lot Of Talk

Have you been keeping a weak-eye on this whole Central Valley Talk channel? We initially thought they would realize this kinda thing is tough to keep up and would fade. But they don't seem to be going away, in fact they are adding to their content with a couple new shows:

• That Tower Bike guy, Duane Hansen, with a show called Tower TV.
• The Guys That Like To Eat [pic above] have a new video out and a new Friday night show called the Not So Late Show.

There seems to be some sponsorship going on the channel, so maybe this could be a DIY kinda success...unlike this mess.

FOCUSED ON FRESNO: Is This the Most Insane Structure Ever Created In the History Of Freakin' Fresno?

The Univision Tower on Herndon is almost done...maybe it is done, how can ya tell really? So, since it's here and isn't going anywhere, I guess we just...accept it now? Make it a tourist attraction? Do bungee jumping off it? Does it have a nickname yet? What should it be?

Going Apeshit: The TV Media on Fresno State's power outage

Damn, a few students have their Monday classes canceled and Fresno's media goes berzerkers. Every station had full-blown coverage of a partial Fresno State outage. Good thing River Park didn't go dark, it would have been Armageddon.

Would You Watch This? Timmy T's Reality

Regular readers or people from the eighties know about Fresno's own Timmy T, right? Did you know a local production company (we think this one) is shopping a reality show centered around Timmy and his girlfriend? According to Timmy's blog, they plan to follow Timmy around Fresno doing extreme Fresno stuff (we imagine), like: pumping gas, getting on blogs, waiting for a table at BJ's, getting a paper, hoping to run into Graciela at Save Mart but never doing it, bitching that people don't know how to drive on the freeways here. You know, intense Fresno stuff.

So, would you watch this?

This StormWarnCenter Is Only Big Enough For The 2 Of Us

Hey! Action News. How many guys do you need to tell me it's going to be some level of sunny tomorrow? One, two? Fine. Three? I guess. But four? With Fresno's predictable weather? Well, at least you're keeping local peeps employed, good for you.

More important: Angelo, ya got to watch your back. Nice Guy Kevin Musso, is standing over your shoulder, waiting to take your top spot. Action New's Top Guns are already making you kick-it-out to him during your shifts. It's only a matter of time. Ageism, that's what that is, dude. But hey, Ang', you could get back at Kevin by starting your own DJ business like Kevin has.

KMPH Telling Comcast to go Fuck Themselves

Unless the two can work things out soon, Thursday at 3:00 pm, FOX KMPH 26 and KFRE CW59 won't be available on Comcast. Apparently the price Comcast wants to pay for the stations signals is way less than the owners think it's worth.

With so many people not being able to watch channel 6 on Comcast, it sounds like Friday morning won't be such a Great Day for Kopi, Kopi's Hairpiece or *The Lady That Sits Next to Kopi.

Yeah, maybe we Fresnans get too excited when Hollywood comes to town, but dammit, this is in my neighborhood and it's kinda growing on me...

Extreme Makeover: Taking Advantage of Fresnans Edition?

Am I the only one who thinks it's wrong that all these local companies and people have to do all this donating of goods and services and volunteering of their time for a major money producing network show? And it's ABC, people. That's Fucking Disney - they have lots of my Disneyland loving money. Those guys are doing fine and don't need volunteer work even if it's for a good cause.

Nobody else is bothered then? Ends justify the means and all? Fine. Anyway, look at the guy (second from left) in the picture above of the Extreme Makeover Team and tell me that's not Fresno Bee columnist Matt James.

Focused On Fresno: Thanks Channel 30, Now My TV Has 'Issues'

 

You're killin' me, Channel 30. My TV already had some insecurities (not a plasma, bad speaker, smallish) and then you guys went and told it it's not ready for the DTV transition. So now, at any point, I fully expect to walk in on my TV, cutting itself. Thanks, assholes.

Late Night Fresno Programing: Bulldog Basketball

Every WAC team, like Fresno State, knows that when ESPN tells you to bend over and take it, you do it. That's why you'll be watching the Bulldog men's basketball team play at 11:00 p.m. tonight against St. Mary's.

Actually, I don't mind the time. I think it's kinda cool to have a live game on at eleven at night. If you're really into late night sports, fellow WAC team Hawaii is playing at 2:00 a.m. I'll take it, ESPN. And I'll for sure be watching how my fellow Seay-r does in the B-Dogs game.

Saturday Fresgeek: Fresno means baseball in Canadian

So, you already know we love local music here at the Fresnan and that's our standard weekend suggestion for something to do.  But Saturday, before you head out to a music venue, maybe try watching some TV.  More specifically, watch the Diamond Dogs, in a best of three series, against Arizona State.  Winner goes to the College World Series.

This is a big fucking deal people.  Fresno is traditionally a gigantor baseball town and I'm surprised there isn't more buzz about this series - outside of Sportsline on 1550 AM.

Arizona State is a college baseball juggernaught and most people are expecting Fresno State to lose.  I have in the past.  That's just the corner this Bulldog team likes being put in.  So find a place in town Saturday night at 6:00 -  one that has ESPNU because Comcast does not - and enjoy being a baseball town again.
