This past weekend, it was the first time for us seeing Zoo Lights. Pretty sweet. Nice edition to the Fresno Christmas light display options. First off, you're in the Zoo at night which is a nice change-up. Most of the animals are sleeping and junk, but the seals are up and ready to party and the Reptile House is open and warm. Make sure to look in on the kangaroos and their dead still, sleeping while standing, creepiness.
Santa and his hipster glasses are there and you get to sit and take a free picture with him (using your own camera, fyi). The main attraction is, indeed, the light displays throughout the zoo. They are mildly to mostly impressive and "oohhh" inducing.
There's also some sorta 3D glasses you can get that I imagine gives you the effect of being there while high ... this is not confirmed though.
It runs the rest of the week, Friday night being the last. Goes from 5 to 8:00. The heaviest amount of people are from 5-6:30, btw. Price is $5, $3 for kids and older peeps, babies slip in free. And, like always, you pay $5 to get into the park.
So go check it out, kids or no kids. Pro tip: There's free cookies and hot-chocolate and no "flask checks" at the door.
