If you've been following Fresno's internets or get out to local shows, you may already know about the band Radagun. They came up in the Fresno scene very quickly and have a very polished look and sound that's ready for radio.
Well, they have moved to Florida - at least the two core members, Aimee Ortiz and Todd Low, have. What the hell, guys? What's this all about? (Is what we asked.) No, seriously, we did some actual reporting of sorts and asked lead singer and guitarist, Aimee, what was up:
So,
why the move?
Aimee: We had been talking about moving for a while, and
recently there have been some opportunities for the band that have
opened up on the east coast so we figured why not just go for it? It's
pretty much a leap of faith, and hopefully it will all pan out well.
Is
Radagun done? What are you doing in Florida
Radagun-wise?
Aimee: We're definitely not done, the move was based primarily
on Radagun. We met up with some great musicians here, and we've been
practicing and we're getting ready to add some east coast tour dates.
Did
you guys grow up in Fresno?
Aimee: I grew up in Hanford, Todd grew up
in Orange County, but both of us have lived in Fresno for the past few
years, we definitely consider the Central Valley our home.
What
Fresno bands should we be paying more attention to? Aimee:
Shiver Fox, it's a
new project with
Trey Tosh, who's amazing, Kyle Baker, the guitarist
from Todd's previous band,
Flight 409, and John Bell, who played bass
for us for a while. Also
Dash Wolf Dash, which was started by two of
our previous lead guitar players, Jeff Simpson and Shawn Stephens, who
are both incredible musicians, so no doubt they'll be doing some pretty
cool things as well.
What are you going to
miss about Fresno (outside of family and friends)?
Aimee: Win-Co definitely.
There's no 24 hour stores around here and we're not really into going
out in public during "normal" hours. Also dry heat, I miss that a
lot. I'm not really digging being stinky ten seconds after stepping
outside. Also that there are no alligators in Fresno, I haven't seen
an alligator, and there's no real reason for me to fear them where we
live, but you know, we're in Florida, and based on all the movies I saw
growing up, I can't help but be a little nervous when I take the trash
out.
Yes! A Win-Co reference - first ever. And also, you may have caught there that Flight 409 is no longer a band, which sucks.
This blog would like to wish good luck to Radagun, don't forget us Valley Folk once you're all big and junk.
