Man we've been waiting for this weekend cause this Saturday we have the chance to finally see those Azazel dudes we missed out on last time. Should be pretty damn metal. But, yeah, it's not all metal happening this weekend. Lots of music (even with no show at Kuppajoe's), Sunday at Audie's looks particularly interesting.
Well, let's get to it then:
FRIDAY
THORNE HOUSE: Yep it's a house party of sorts (shhh, don't tell the FPD) with Fierce Creatures, Aesop & The Fables, Brother Luke and Tokyo Death March. [6:00 $3]
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Audie's is always good about bringing in the tribute acts, tonight is Doors tribute act the Double Doors. [9:30 $10]
CLUB RETRO: Hey it's one of those not-a-festival-but-sure-looks-like it shows with Kinship, Die on the Vine, The Furious Slugs, MellaJANE, No Halo, Across Time, Take Me Anywhere, Apollo Sunrise, Giraffrica, Windowsill Rose, Amoret & Guests. [7:00 $12 All Ages]
STARLINE: Tonight's the night to get some smoooooth up in ya! with the Bullet Boys and Bang Tango. If you've ever wondered what a Starline crowd would have looked like in 1988, head out there tonight because we guarantee you'll find out. For a night this show proves that we don't need a mid-sized music venue, the Starline will be plenty big. Did you know that the Bullet Boys are the next Van Halen? Jury is still out on that one, we guess. Alright we'll, stop. Seriously we bet this will be a good time, please somebody report back. Oh and local dudes South Of Sanity and 2am Gypsies will be there too. [8:00 $15 All Ages]
SATURDAY
Finally the day has come to Starline for the metal of Azazel, HateFX, Chamber 7 and a name Archop may be interested in, At The Hands Of An Architect:
IRON BIRD CAFE: New coffee shop and now new music venue with Noodles and Doodles and Ballad: The Memory. [7:30 - 9:30 Free]
FULL CIRCLE BREWERY: Songstress? Singstress? Meh, you figure it out with Kellie Lee and Bad Luck & Trouble. [8:00 $6]
The CYC:
DI AMICI CAFE: This one is in Mendota and yeah, we usually don't take the time to talk about things outside of Fresno but this is still Fresno County. And dammit, Mendota doesn't get many things happening, so take THAT Firebaugh. The Westside kids will enjoy Sounds & Sciences, Plan To Portal, Reach For The Sky, Forever Rising, Art By Numbers and Rose Of Sharon. [5:00 $5]
Since Portland is 128% whitey, is it okay that prominent Portland indie band Y La Bamba has a Spanish name? Well, you can debate that with them on Sunday at Audie's along with Sean Flinn & The Royal We plus Fresno's own Rademacher:
There ya go, hope you can use this stuff. If you've got something for us we missed or want to talk about or review something listed, please be awesome and leave a comment. For submitting info to us for future shows, email: [email protected]
Enjoy all the Fresno music this weekend!
