In case you haven't seen, there's a new edition to Wishon Row called The Hashtag. Sounds internet-y, so we should probably like it. But we need some answers before we decide if this kicks ass or not. Lucky for us, co-founder of The Hashtag, Travis Sheridan, was around to give us the info.
1. Hashtag. It sounds nerdy so we're interested. What the hell is it?
Travis: Think of it as the best third space ever. ←thanks Josh Tehee The Hashtag is designed for writers, bloggers, programmers, developers, designers, filmmakers, artists and entrepreneurs as a place they can come to work AND be around like-minded people. We host program-driven events like the “Get Shit Done Night,” and ArtHop.The space is available 24-hours a day, 365 days a year via PIN or key-card access. We have strong, reliable internet access, modular desk units, couches and bar-style seating. Plenty of dry-erase boards for anyone looking to collaborate, plus, it’s sandwiched between a the best coffee in Fresno and a bakery (Frosted Cakery). Across the street from a pizza parlor, down the road from Tower Dogs (open late on weekends) and on the route of a major bus line.In short, it’s the place for all things creative in Fresno.
2. And what's this all nighter event that our Facebook is telling us is happening?
Travis: Done by Dawn v1 (known as “Get Shit Done Night” to insiders) is the first of monthly events. The premise is based on the fact that all of us have project we keep putting off. Why waste another weekend fretting about loose-ends. Get Shit Done Night will be the last Thursday of the month. People arrive around 6:30 pm, write their name and project on a dry-erase board, and work until their project is finished or until 6:30 am…then check it ff the list. We are excited about the camaraderie and energy in the room. When a person finishes they can go home or even jump in and help someone else. We see it as the perfect blend of work | play | create.
3. Are you worried about squatters at Hashtag? ('cause we're thinking we might try that)
Travis: Cameras, dude. We are watching ya. Actually, we are trying to set a self-policing culture. In our Code of Conduct we expressly say “no dirt bags” or d-bag of any nature.
4. Could we bring, like, a hot chick to Hashtag and, you know... do stuff?
Travis: You can work | play | create. Screw is not part of the vibe we are seeking to create.
5. Will you be totally pissed if Hashtag doesn't get a Frebby?
Travis: No. I’ll be pissed if this fails. I feel like Fresno is ready for this and the community has really stepped up. We want to see this succeed.
Thanks, Travis. Guess we'll just hook-up with our sweet ladies in the Tower Communitty Garden like everybody else.
