Another nice edition to Downtown Fresno is officially up and brewing, and they now have the signage to prove it: Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company.
They (and NoTown Roller Girls) even had a beer garden going Saturday, before the Grizzlies game:

Chuck Leonard, host of Central Valley Buzz on Central Valley Talk Network, is fed up with the Tower District's Sequoia Brewery and is picketing the place on Friday. What sparked this? This is what Chuck is saying:
I go to Sequoia Tower with a group last night to see the band and have a beer. As we walk in, we say hi to the band and some other friends. In less than 5 minutes, two different employees tell us we have to leave if we don't order something right then. One was the manager saying "it's not a free concert". This was after we plugged them on our show multiple times last night. You will NEVER see me in there again!
Chuck's group is "Tired of locals being treated like shit!" so they'll be out on Olive Friday night from 7 to 9 with signs in hand.
Call it a publicity stunt. Call it a case of "Don't you know who I am!" Call it Tower Justice. Whatever. All we know is: This will be the most awesome picket line EVAAR and we're going to need a couple Moto Brews to enjoy the hell out of it.

It's taken a while, what with that whole Forest City jackassery and all. But as of today, local brewers Tioga Sequoia (746 Broadway) are in full brewing mode. From Tioga's Facebook page: "Six 30 Barrel fermenters to launch our first brew day tomorrow [today]. Let's brew some beer!!!"
Yes. Hells yes. Drink local.
Side note: Pretty awesome local alt-sports Tioga has picked to sponsor: NoTown Roller Girls and Fresno Rugby Club. You know, Tioga, the Fresno Wiffleball League starts up again soon, and they love to drink. sooo...

It's not scary to walk into. The folks in there are normal (relatively). There's a solid jukebox. Nice and sweet bartender. Yep, we are officially taking Shooters off Fresno's Dive Bar List - or at least saying it's the best (as in nicest) dive bar in town.
Really it's been said before on the Fres-nets: if you feel safe, it's not a dive bar.

Ohhhh, so they finally got smart and opened up the 600 Club during Sudz In The City. Although it's VIP for another $25. Yeah, we get it, you gotta charge extra so you don't have us every drunkass douchebag stumbling around up in the club.
Bands that will be playing this year: DB & the Struggle, Super Lucky Catz, Motel Drive, On the Fly, Monkey Wrench and Annette Ash Trio.
Might be fun, might suck, either way we're glad it's still around and downtown.

Sure, we want to celebrate podcasting for four years and, yes, we want to drink tonight. But, honestly we really want people to check out some Fresno bands for free. We love supporting our music scene and a podcast party is as a good excuse to do it as any.
But who the hell are these bands that are playing anyway? Well, if you must know:
FAY WRAYS
These guys are this blogs favorite band in town. The Fay dudes use every ounce of themselves when they're playing. You want to grit your teeth and quietly say "Fuck yeah!" to yourself while watching them. Check 'em, with some creative sound editing:

You haven't forgot about this, have you? Sudz in the City is Saturday. (Hint: Get there early before all the beer is gone and all the assholes show up).
This is the festival's 15th year. Remember when it started at the Water Tower? It was small, but nobody seemed to run out of beer and it didn't get all crazy. Just people drinking some different beers and being social.
But then, it got bigger and eventually moved to Chuckchansi Park (we'll forget about the Box Car Parking Lot year). Better, maybe, because there are now places to sit, more stages for bands, more people to socialize with. But, that also has meant, higher ticket prices, longer lines and seemingly less choices of micro-beers.
So we ask you, oh badass readers of The Fresnan, which of these three options would you prefer?

Yeah, so, maybe Fresno got a little over-heated today (though a real Fresnan scoffs at a 95 temp). But hey man, the record heat is awesome because that means your patio, right now, is the perfect temperature. Makes the few hours of heatedness sooo worth it.
Might we suggest you go get yourself a couple Fresno beers, stroll out to your patio and enjoy the Fresno Night. Go. Now! Get off your damn Internet Box...or maybe take it out there with you.
