CYC: Southern California hardcore thrash outfit: Creatures. If you're a fan of Slayer or Hatebreed you'll probably like these dudes. Also playing is Fatal Birth, Rise!, Running Scared and more. Show by Religious Appeal:

KUPPAJOES: Interesting band for Kupppa, this feels like a Audie's show. Fort Smith, Arkansas band White Collar Sideshow is playing and they are as into the theatrics as much as the music. Also, Levi The Poet, Drag Me 2 Shore and Operazoo.

AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: First Glen Delpit will do his Friday night thing from 7-9. Then, a birthday party you don't have to buy a present for. Plus there's beer. Hells yes. Performing is Death Alley Motor Cult, Hammer Down Sindrum, Low Crawl and From The Fallen. Details:

FULTON 55: They say that the imitation is the sincerest form of flattery so Creative Fresno should be flattered as hell that the Soulflower Group has taken their Blender idea and pushed it up a notch. Music community types getting together for drinks and music. Details:

THE BEL-TOWER: If you're not offended by the any of the following band names, then you may have no soul. Black Fag - The "Absolutely Fabulous" Tribute to Black Flag! There are plenty of things to do with those returning Fresnans in town for a Holiday visit. Washington St. is at Save Mart Center tonight, three dollar hockey at Selland, Idaho is at Bulldog Stadium Saturday. And there is good local music all weekend.

Here are some suggestions on where you can support Fresno's music scene and maybe, just maybe, help your holiday visiting out-of-town cousin get laid. Hey Fresno! Let's BANDGEEK!!

So, Bakersfield author and website editor, Nick Belardes, has a new book out called "Random Obsessions". He's in Fresno this weekend to hang with Kopi on Friday morning. Then Saturday to do a reading at the Met (11:30 AM) and a book signing at Barnes and Noble at 2:00.

Bako still not as cool as Fresno

Yes, Fresno was the epicenter of movie set coolness (also known as nerdness) last October when Indy 4 was partially being filmed at Fresno's Chandler Airport.  Now Bakersfield is trying to one up us. 

Scenes for the new Star Trek film are being filmed on the Valley Floor near Bakersfield.  They were trying to keep it quiet until the film's site manager got into a traffic accident.

Nice try Bakersfield, but Indiana Jones trumps Star Trek.  Fresno's nerds are cooler than yours.

Valley Floor is Covered

The Starline keeps bringing it on Tuesdays.  This Tuesday night you can sample bands from the whole valley.  Such as SacTown's Bidwell, Bako's Lost Ocean, Visalia's Awaiting Fangs and Fresno's Flight 409.

Thursday: Fred's Olympic at Audie's Tavern

Call it Club Fred.  Call it Olympic Tavern.  Or call it by its current name: Audie's Olympic.  Doesn't matter, there's a great indie show going on there Thursday night.

San Fran's Loquat (ask about their SXSW show), Fresno's Gypsy Cab and Fresno/Bako's The Dalloways.

Fresgeek Friday's Dalloway Disaster

The Tower District's Starline will be the place to be Friday night as Fresno/Bako band The Dalloways release EP goodness. Fully Fresno bands The Sleepover Disaster and Aspen Hollow round things out.

Tim Gardea Screws Fresno again

[After you read the post below, check out the update.]

Some time ago, I posted about a poorly run show at the Rainbow Ballroom by Tim Gardea Presents. 

Well, that was nothing compared to this.  As reported by the Bee's Mike Oz, the Wednesday night Scary Kids Scaring Kids show at The Exit turned ugly.

The show was oversold and it prompted a visit from the Fresno Fire Marshall.

(SIDE NOTE:  What if instead of an all ages music venue, it was some nice North Fresno restaurant that was overcrowded and violating fire codes?  I'm thinking it wouldn't have gotten a Fire Marshall visit.  But I digress...)

When I heard that the SKSK show was oversold (not knowing who the promoter was), the first promoter that popped into my head was Tim Gardea Presents.  Not shocked to find out it was their show.  Lets hope that TGP somehow makes up for their lame Fresno promoting. 

How about they make up for it by staying in Bakersfield and never promoting in Fresno again.

monday hangover: Roadrunner wins

The Hangover item is one of the lowest points in Fresno State basketball history:  Losing to Bakersfield. 

Forget all this crap, getting beat by the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners (first time I've even heard what their mascot was), that is a new low.
