Scott Kelly, frontman of Oakland expierimental metal band Neurosis, is making a solo tour stop at Fulton 55.  Also stopping in is Jay Munly (Slim Cessna's Auto Club). is a banjo player, guitarist, singer from Denver. Also showing up is outlaw country dude, Bob Wayne.

Fresno Music Rules: Fierce Creatures in CMJ

Really liking Fresno's music scene in the past few weeks. Among other things, the Quiet Americans were featured on a big tastemaker website, Sahab was featured in a Rolling Stone ME article, and now Fearce Creatures are featured on the front page of CMJ's website.

CLUB RETRO: One of the biggest shows we've seen come to Retro. We know that Fresno's Your Hero Is A Villain has been ancy as hell to get this one going with popular Georgia metalcore band Norma Jean. Plus Oh Sleeper (Fort Worth), Close Your Eyes (Texas), Stray From The Path (New York hardcore) and Lower Than Atlantis (Hertfordshire, UK rock):

KUPPAJOES: We thinks maybe Lybecker must really like Fresno or something. We want to say this is like the 4th maybe 5th time the Seattle rock band has been through Fresno. Also playing are a bunch of locals like Saving Temperance, My Beautiful Surrender, Mercy Fists and Sactown's Joshiah James:

Music In Fresno Tonight: The American Scene, Lions!Tigers!Bears!, Design The Skyline and Salvador Santana

At the CYC, Religious Appeal presents Bay Area pop-punk band The American Scene touring with East Bay's Troubled Coast and joined tonight by Fresno's RMS Olympic.

Over at The Bel-Tower, Under City Lights presents Victory Record's Texas deathcore band: Design The Skyline. Plus popular Northridge alt-rock band Lions!Tigers!Bears!. This is some pretty big stuff for Bel-Tower, should be packed out. Also there is Capture The Flag (Bend, Oregon), Fresno's ITheDeciever, Woodlake's Limits, Fresno's Brotherhood and One Shot One Kill.

For the older folk, at Fulton 55, it's Salvador Santana. [8pm, $12, 21+]

Tonight @ The Bel-Tower: Punk Rock From Korea with ...Whatever That Means

Come on, don't say "I've got finals to study for and shit, I can't make it." You know you ain't studying for no final. Get out to the Bel-Tower tonight for some punks from FREAKING KOREA, man! They're called ... Whatever That Means. They are desribed as a "pillar in the Korean punk scene."

Plus lots of awesome locals like It'll Grow Back, Iwanaga, The 32s, The Lonely Revolts (Monterey) and Eindrah.

Nobody In Fresno Is Happier To See Pat Hill Fired Than Fresno's 'First Dude' Paul Swearengin

If you've made friends with Paul Swearengin on Facebook, than you know this week might be the best sports week of his life. Ever since he quit his morning radio show on ESPN 1430 - no longer having to interview or look Pat Hill in the eye - he's been relentless in his frustration of Pat Hill's team.

Yardhouse: Finally A Reason To Go To River Park

Fresno is now complete. Went to Yardhouse over the weekend.

Food: good. Atmosphere: good (the keg room is especially impressive). Beer: excellent. So I think we're pretty done here people with chain restaurants moving in to town. It's not going to get better than this (we're kinda over waiting for a Dave & Busters), so let's just call it good.

Now, if somebody would get to work on "Fresno's" for us we're set.

The Gypsy Rock kings of San Francisco, Diego's Umbrella, returns to Fresno tonight with our noise making gents The Quiet Americans, opening up. Diego's Umbrella plays more like a band out of Europe than California. In fact they have toured extensively, throughout the world, and have become a cult favorite over there. They bring with them a rep for putting on big live shows. Tonight should be no different.
