We hate to do this but Bandgeek is gonna be quick this week. Truth? We spent too much time at the Fay Wrays/Buffalo Guns show last night at Audie's, so we ran out of time to do this post up the way we usually like. Forgive, please.

A quite solid local lineup tonight with Fay Wrays, Buffalo Guns, The Notones and Planet Express. You are aware that the Fay Wrays have a new album out that kicks the living goo out of whatever bullshit you're listening to right now, right?:

Those schooled on their hardcore metal should know about Cleveland's Ringworm. They're known and stuff. They're in Fresno tonight. They're playing with Gorilla Stomp, Revenge, Hate Your Guts, The Love Below, Strike To Survive and Caulfield.

Allright, it's music in Fresno County, close enough. The Kingsburg Community Band claims to be the LONGEST continuous community band West of the Mississippi. We're not journalismy enough to check on such things but we'll take their word for it. We've learned they play in "that big park off Sierra Street in Kingsburg, just East of 99." This week they will have our buddy Blake Jones playing the theremin with them. Far out, man, far out. Starts at 8pm and it's free! Go!

Fresnan Late Night: You Do NOT Tell Kopi How To Say 'Great Day'! He Fucking Tells YOU!

Yes we're a little late on this but did you read the Ricky B story in the Bee this week about all of the local filmmaking happening? The story begins with some local director telling Kopi how to say 'great' and 'day':

Over at the KMPH studios last week, movie director Matt Sconce had taken over a control room. He was coaching Channel 26.1 anchor and part-time actor Kopi Sotiropulos on how to say "What a great day" with just the right emphasis for a scene in the film "The Park."

"What a GREAT day. WHAT a great DAY. What a GREEEAT Day," Sotiropulos said, repeating the dialogue until the local film director was certain he got the perfect end line to his low-budget movie.

This is proof that Kopi must be the nicest man ever. Some local putz coaches KOPI on how to put the right emphasis on 'great' and 'day'? How Kopi doesn't go into a Christian Bale "Fuck sake man you're amatuer!" tirade is beyond us.

The last show for I Do Not Exist? Balls. Apparently their lead singer is moving to LA so there will be no more existing after that. Makes for an important show at C.A.F.E. Infoshop tonight, especially with Brother Luke and Portland's The Hague playing.

Bass player for the legedary Ramones, CJ Ramone - replaced Dee Dee Ramone. It's a solo project BUT he'll be playing a full catalog of Ramones songs, so don't you worry. Plus Manifest Destiny (a tribute band to a legendary New York band named The Dictators) were on the bill. Were because, remember, this show is canceled. Locals Toxic Shock and the Backstabbers were going to be there too. Bummer.

BANDGEEK!: Tear Fresno's Music Scene Asunder

It's going to be a very agressive music scene this weekend in Fresno. Lot's of metal on Friday and stuff. Gottafuckin problem with that? Yeah, didn't this so.

STARLINE: In today's metal scene, there aren't a lot of bands playing straight metal/thrash that are under 30. Metalcore/grindcore is where more of the young bands are. That's why it's good to see a band like Ventura's Warbringer out there, being young and relevant while still playing quality "straight" metal. They'll be on Fern street tonight along with Fresno favorites Azazel, Gristle and Nativeburn. Plus Hanford's God Fears Me and Apothesary from Concord. All presented by Diehardz Music. [7pm, $15, 21+]

THE BEL-TOWER: Fresnans have waited long and hard (ehhehheh, hard) to experience crust music from Nova Scotia. FINALLY the day has come: Napalm Raid. The Crue will explain things further:

Special guests include Peter Mordyk and the songs and singing of David Kelley. Veterans of Fresno's music scene may remember David from his time fronting 2am Orchestra. He is now living in New Zealand and moved some things around so he could come back to Fresno and play this show. [8pm-10:30,$6, 21+]
