In between seeing movies, going to nerd-cool local film festivals and helping make the Fulton Mall perdy, you're going to need to somehow find time for music. Maybe even take the time to drive down to Vice City with Strange Vine. Or don't. There's tons of good stuff in Fresno anyway. Like a crap-ton of metal tonight.
So. Let. Us. BANDGEEK!:
FRIDAY
KUPPAJOES: Kuppa returns from vacation strong, with Orange County ambient rock: The Wandering Tree. Clovis pop rock: My Beautiful Surrender. Woodbridge indie rock: The Crosswalk. Fresno post hardcore: Corsair. Auburn alt-rock: Josiah James. [7pm, $10, All Ages]
BABYLON: Bakersfield metal band State Of Insomnia with Fresno's Hands That Kill and Death Alley Motor Cult. Plus Merced's Cursed and more. [7:30 $8 21+]
STARLINE: Certainly there are No Doubt fans among us. Fern Street will be the place for them tonight because there will be no hollering back girls, just #tributing from No Duh. Plus original local rock from Pawn, Dirtmouth, Home Brew and Rise Before The Fall. Details:
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Not sure if you've caught this before but we really like Moses. The band, that is. Although the other Moses seemed like a cool dude too. Moses is underrated raw hardcore Fresno metal. Team them with Handlebarz (Fresno) and Meth Leapord (SLO) and you've got yourself a show [note the clever cover]:
FULTON 55: Los Angeles/NY singer and pianist, Matt Cusson, is kicking off his tour tonight in Fresno (btw, did you see him on the CBS Early Show this morning?). This may be one of those saw-him-before-he-got-big kinda shows. Tickets. Details:
CLUB RETRO: Rock and hardcore. Stuff like that with Endless Canvas, Clock Work Hero, Parvo, This Planet Prelude. Details:
SATURDAY
LIBERTY THEATER: We've been bugging you about this one for a few weeks. Even sneaked into the venue. It's finally here and it's all for KFSR: Fresno Grand Opry night. Local bands shift away from their comfort zones to play some good-old country and stuff. Go:
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: It's tributing band: The Charming Band. Regulars in Fresno. Regulars because they always pack the place. This time it's a special one:
BABYLON: Asesino is Tony Campos of Static X, Dino Cazares of Fear Factory and Emillio Martinez of Possessed. Pretty fucking metal. Plus a fine list of local talent with Gristle, At The Hands Of An Architect and much more. Check it:
FULTON 55: Yes. More tributing. This time it's Ozzy style with Izzy Osborne plus ACDC tribute band: Noise Pollution. Tickets here. [9pm $17 21+]
THE BEL-TOWER: Going to be interesting to see if It'll Grow Back's frontman, Josh Tehee, can be at this show and the Fresno Grand Opry show in one night. At least they're both downtown-ish:
CYC: Bands like The Demise Of Assyria, Lies In Ruins (more Atwater), Just Another Massacre (Fresno) and more:
STARLINE: The Bullet Boys return to smooth up in ya, Fresno. Tickets. [9pm $20 21+]
SUNDAY
THE BEL-TOWER: Bands with lots of members (we're running out of writing steam here). Just look at them:
Okay, that's what we found. If you know of a local band playing that's not on here or you just want to talk about what IS on here, please use the comment section to pimp away!
