While remembering it's Record Store Day on Saturday (make sure to hit up Spinners and Rasputain for specials) we welcome you to the most time consuming post in Fresno's blogoshpere. Where the weekend's musical choices vie for your attention and hard earned Fresno dollar. It is.... BANDGEEEEEEK!!
FRIDAY:
KUPPAJOES: Experimental modern rock band from Yuba City, The Paper Melody. Plus Reluctant Hero (Ventura), locals Antidote For Anxiety and Zebra Kills Lion. Details:
FULTON 55: Tops in tributing of Motley Cure? It's Motley Inc. If they could just throw in the "Golddiggers on Golden State" during their rendition of "Girls Girls Girls" it just might put Fresno on the map. Tickets here. [$15 Doors 8pm 21+]
CLUB RETRO: Best show Retro has seen in a while, it's the long awaited (by us for sure) CD release from Your Hero Is A Villain. Plus I The Deciever, Murder My Hero, Just Another Massacre and more. Details:
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Some local rock in a local club with ... local ... people ... attending. Good enough. Performing: Spacehooker. Death Alley Motor Cult. Goat. [$5 10pm 21+]
FULL CIRCLE: A EP release party for locals, The Loungmen, plus Kyle Bowman from Los Angeles. [$7 8pm 21+]
CYC: Bands: Oblivion, Crucified, Plead The Fifth, Callout, Plagues, Until Your Hear Stops and other stuff:
THE BEL-TOWER: Come experience what it's like seeing a band named Switchblade 327. And Mane Horse. And other band names:
THE BABYLON: Fresno rock band Session, with I Do Not Exist, The Screaming Me Me's and more. [$5? 8pm 21+]
SATURDAY
THE BEL-TOWER: Southern Cali' punks The Sheds. They're touring the West Coast and hoping you'll check out their new EP - you can listen to it/ purchase it on their Bandcamp page (it's good stuff!). Also on the lineup is pleantly of punk-oriented talent like Victimless Crime, Iwanaga! and It'll Grow Back. Info:
KARMA: Being billed as "That One Festival", there's a lot of local talent playing. But there's one major band coming from out-of-town: Taproot. That's a solid rock act playing in a club setting, that's big for Taproot fans (although Karma is pretty big - formally Fagan's). Note the 3pm start time on this one because there are EIGHT OTHER BANDS PLAYING. Details:
CYC: Grrrrrrrr "To Hell And Back" with Malace In The Eyes Of Medusa, Anchored At The Gate, I The Deciever, Compassion and more. Details:
FULTON 55: Rising blues singer and harmonica player, John Nemeth. Tickets. [$15 7:30 doors 21+]
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: SKA BONAZA ... that ... that's what this is. It it, it's a ska (pause) bonanza ... that. That's what what it is (if you read all that opening part with a Bob Newhart cadence, it makes sense). The Los Hooligans details:
STARLINE: Things have been quiet for Down Word lately... hence the title of ... the show ... happening:
Okay, that's what we found. If you know of a local band playing that's not on here or you just want to talk about what IS on here, please use the comment section to pimp away!
