Yo. A lot of shows to like this weekend. Tough choices to make too. Since the holidays ended, it's been turning out that way around here. And Fresnans have been showing up too. Maybe Fresno is starting to get that live music is the best way to spend a night in Fresno - We think so. With that...
... LET'S BANDGEEK!
FULTON 55: They are the premiere Van Halen tribute band: Atomic Punks. Michael Anthony (VH's original bass player) has even played with them. We've seen them before (never in Fresno) and can attest to their accuracy and show fun-ness. The only thing that is different from the real Van Halen is the singer has a better voice (and more hair) than David Lee. Sorry Dave. Buy tickets here. Locals, Blaze, opens. [$17 8pm doors 21+]
STARLINE: Metalll! You have Granted Earth from Monterey (so not metal a metal place, but). It's okay, there's Fresno metal (Fresno is very 'metal') with HateFX, Death Alley Motor Cult and Spacehooker. Details:
THE BEL-TOWER: Yes. Haven't seen Gristle out in a while - figured they were dead or something. It'll Grow Back ... they are playing. Rombo too. And R.A.S.H., Syd Love, The Deadbeats and The Endorsement. Details:
THE BABYLON: Fresno Spanish ska rock band, Basura, has been playing a lot lately. This is a good thing. Also good is Voodoo Glow Skulls and Rule 5. [$12 9pm 21+]
KUPPAJOES: They're Popular in Fresno. It's Sacramento band, Lybecker.
CYC: Well, Religious Appeal is on this one and that's good enough for us. Daytrader, This Time Next Year, Seahaven and A Week Away:
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: The Blogfather would like you to get familiar with Das Racist. Sure, go ahead. See if we care. Populus, he killed that shit at Pecha on Monday.
SATURDAY
FULL CIRCLE BREWERY: Our brothers in taking video of shows, blogging and podcasting, Dead In 60 Years, are having a party. And it's a good one too (better than we could pull off) with fresh-from-SXSW band, Strange Vine. Plus Jeanette Hawkins & Karm Way, Style Like Revelators and Bombs & Candy. And get this: IT'S FUCKIN' FREE!:
