Not sure which can be worse, a FresnoBee.com comments section or a general Facebook post comments section. Over the weekend it was Facebook, with a simple question on ABC 30's page "What would you like to see done to Downtown Fresno?"
Of course this question brings out the free/more parking people (we thinks we can hear Famous Whitewater's head exploding from here). Guess these people have never been to another downtown in a major city. Does one go to SF and say "Where's all the free parking!" Besides, parking downtown is free at night and on weekends (with the exception of event parking).
And then there's the people that think there are regular muggings downtown. In actuality, the Downtown Triangle is one of the most crime free areas of the city - more crime free than the famed River Park area.
More dishearting are the Fresnans that don't give a shit about Fresno's history or authenticity and say things like "Bulldoze the whole thing and start from scratch." or "Burn it down it ain't going to work talk talk talk."
It's a good thing we don't really need those kind of Fresnans to continue the success downtown. The Culture Arts District is doing pretty damn good without them.
