It's May and it's National Bike Month. Or as Portland calls it: The Holy Month. While Portland may be the bike capital of the west coast (for now), Fresno is building up to at least be in the same class.
We've got a large gap to close but Fresno bike nerds, more specifically the folks over at ibikefresno.org, are working hard to see that we're in the same class as those damn snotty Portlanders - only without the snotty.
Just read Famous' interview with Ibikefresno.org and you'll see that Fresno is taking full advantage of National Bike Month. In fact, today is (or was, actually) the big ride from the Manchester Center (it started in the Sears lot at 7:30 am) through Downtown Fresno and ended at Iron Bird Cafe. On Thursday it's the normal Bike Hop where riders hop around to different Art Hop venues.
And ongoing and happening Wednesday the 19th is the Bike To Work Day corporate challenge:
Yes, Portland. Mark our words, we'll have your made-up title one day. In fact we're counting the miles until it's ours.
