UPDATE 5/3:
Not sure that this qualifies as a facade "improvement" (like what happened recently at the Kress Building on the Fulton Mall) but you can see the OG facade now at the Foodland/Las Palmas center. Can't say we remember an auto parts store being there:
ORIGINAL POST 4/28:
One guess why there is heavy equipment and a cyclone fence at the southwest corner of Shields and West.
It seems the old Foodland building (Does anyone else miss Foodland?), which is now a Las Palmas market, will be staying. But apparently the other half of the shopping center will be torn down. You know, right after they clean up the asbestos:
Which is too bad. Especially because of the little Mexican place in the corner.
Pretty good food, but the point is it used to be a coffee shop and you could tell. It has (or had) that old 40s or 50s coffee shop feel (like a mini Chicken Pie Shop) and was cool to hang out in. It'll be missed.
Not sure which builds more now, Starbucks or CVS.
