Bandgeek: Thomas Confessions, Last Nerves, Love Letters, Wide Eyed Panic and Charming Bands

If you've ever wondered about local band promotion and who are the folks behind it all, it just so happens that the blogosphere provided you some info into that this week. Famous Whitewater did an article on Religious Appeal (does a lot of CYC shows and more) and Mike Oz, coincidentally did one on Art Silva (does a lot of Babylon shows and more).

So, armed with that (and the knowledge that Rogue Festival has taken over Starline this weekend), lets see what's what with local band action:

FRIDAY

CLUB RETRO: West Shaw is all about The Thomas Confession, Mercy Fists, Saving Temperance, Come September and Incoming Rush. [7:00 $8 All Ages]

CYC: The folks putting this on are requesting "no druggies, boozers or losers" but if you're a blog reader you're totally cool to go see Bridges (sadly it isn't this Bridges band - know what I'm sayin!? Huh? Yeah?), Sacramento's Plead The Fifth, On My Last Nerve and Rodney Strong. [5:00 $6 All Ages]

KUPPA JOES: Yes, why not be all emo and alternative-y with My Beautiful Surrender, The Crosswalk (Catch Us If You Can), Man Up Nancy (touring and from Sac Town), Love Letters and Small Talk. [7:30 $7 All Ages]

AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: We haven't noticed HateFX playing lately so it's cool their slow metalness will be at Audie's tonight with Death Alley MotorCult, Crucial Point and L.R.A. [8:00 $6 21+]

BABYLON CLUB: Oh yes, there shall be rock in the basement with Mynis, Six Ounce Gloves and Wide Eyed Panic [9:00 $?]

SATURDAY

SUNDAY

SIERRA VISTA MALL PARK: Some local bands are coming together to put on a show for the families of fallen Fresno County Sheriff Joel Wahlenmaier and Reedley Police Officer Javier Bejar. It's a free show but folks will be collecting your donations. Six Ounce Gloves, Strange Vine, Zig Zag and Damaged Goods will be playing.  The show goes from noon to five.
