The Tower District's Starline club was the setting for a nerd secretly recording a song from Fresno's own Fay Wrays. It may or may not have been cool for me to record it, but it's cool if you listen to it: FayWrays.mp3
The reputation of Fresno being a walk up town for ticket buying grows stronger with this bit of news: there are still tickets available for the Wisconsin game next Saturday. This is probably the biggest game in Bulldog Stadium history, it's really only a week away, and you can still get in, no problem.
So yeah, Fresnans do have a problem buying tickets in advance - whatever the event is. But some of this I blame the Bulldog folk for. No matter what, they always seem to release tickets before the game, "sold out" or not. Standing room, day of releases, you can always still get in the stadium.
This time guys, leave it sold out for realsies. Just because the Fire Marshall says you can fit some more people in there doesn't mean you should.
Make it an actual sell out for once and maybe you'll get us so scared that the next time, we'll buy in advance.
Ya missed it fools. Flight 409 was at Starline last night - with some other bands. Alright, to be honest, I missed the other bands too. But I did get some low audio quality video of Flight 409. Be there next time so I can buy you a beer.
Tuesday night at Starline is Fresno's most consistently good night of music. It usually has a nice mix of up-and-coming out of town acts and quality Fresno bands. Tonight is the perfect example of this.
Scream in Silence, and The Pilots Wife stop in town on their West Coast tours. Also, two Fresno bands with extremely high potential: Flight 409 and The Kids International, are on the bill - I really recomend seeing these guys, both should be hitting something big soon.
People that think Fresno sucks in the summer can kiss my fresnerd ass. How could a weekend filled with this, suck?
So all you Fresno haters can simply: Suck. It.
Put down the Wii Bowling for one evening and go bowling with Fresno's most historic band Let's Go Bowling at Audie's Olympic.

At THE STARLINE, current favorite band of The Fresnan: The Fay Wrays. I'd go just on the flier alone. Look at it over there, with its phone and power lines. So cool! The Wrays will be playing with Head Like a Kite, The Aircrash, Robopop and Brother Luke and The Comrades.
A second cool flier points out that another favorite Fresno band of mine, Victory Jump, is taking part in an acoustic show at Kuppa Joe's with Windowsill Rose, Troubled By Insects and Fallen Pilot.

As reported by Rick Bentley's Goatee, KMJ 580 has bought www.newstalk1300kyno.com. A site that just redirects you to KMJ's. Why is that news? Well, 1300 KYNO is about to change their format to news talk, similar to KMJ's. So apparently, KMJ is already so scared of their new competition, they're buying up urls that KYNO might use.

Maybe this is just a prank by KYNO to get local blogger nerds to talk about their revamped format. Cool with me, I don't mind being used. Any chance I get to call KMJ "douchebag radio", I'll take.
I freekin' love this kind of Fresno news: three major Fresno bands have recently made varying levels of label deals. All the bands are solid and deserve everything coming to them - congrats to Rademacher, Mercury Bullet and The Sleepover Disaster.
Eventually, maybe their newly inked deals will help get their albums reviewed by a major music mag, like Spin.
That's what McLane High grad Aaron Espinoza's band Earlimart got last month. Hymn & Her may have got three stars, but I give Aaron's beard five stars.
