Community Site Says "STOP YER BITCHING!"

Fresno Famous couldn't stand the complaints anymore and has gone whitey...if you like whitey that is.  If you are a famous user you can now ditch the controversial yellow, black and red for white and blue.  I chose this and like it better.

Also something new is the restaurant review section, but that hasn't really got going yet.  The Famous Bands section is still a little thin too and Crappy Comic is refusing to leave (don't listen to his songs, you're just encouraging him dammit).  Embedding video is finally available...finally.  And worth mentioning, in keeping with this little FF resurgence, Famous Whitewater has stepped up his posts lately.

Although Fresno Beehive, Fresno Fusion and Late Update have been continuing to grow and move in on FF's once dominance of Fresno's Internets, Famous is still Fresno's go-to community site.  Looks like they're at least trying to keep that title.

Flowing with podcasting

Have you heard the new podcast from Ed and Adam?  Have you heard ours? Well, really, you haven't heard Dorktown lately.  We are on a little break until next week.  But that doesn't mean there isn't something new to listen too.

The latest Flowing With Famous is out.  "Flowing" is a podcast we do with Joshua Tehee of FresnoFamous.com.  Plenty of good Fresno talk without all the Dorktown raunch (yeah, boring I know):

Marilyn is REALLY dead now

As predicted, Fresno Famous has been redesigned.  The new look is very industrial.  Gone is the old soft, white, fem' look, along with Marilyn.  Apparently, legally,  the Monroe logo no longer could be used.

Functionality is about the same, outside of figuring out where the hell stuff is at.  New things, like a restaurant review section, will be up in time and there are some more kinks to be worked.

If this was my first time on Famous, I would like the look.  But, right now, being used to seeing the old Famous on a daily basis, the newness is a shock to the system.  But, that will fade in time.

Fresnan Famous

This past Sunday, FresnoFamous.com was gracious enough to kick out some Grizzlies tixs to TheFresnan.com.  We gave Famous nothing in return.  Well, we do help with this thing.

Best. Awards. Ever.

At The Fresnan we aren't big enough (yet) to have our own Fresno inspired awards.  So, the next best thing is to glom the only decent local awards around:  Famous Choice Awards

Every category is solid.  Our favorites are Podcasts (wink), Blog (wink wink), Band, Take Your North-ender Friends, Thing About Fresno and Wish List (wink).

Fresno Famous goes Musical

Fresno Famous has even out done Jarah on this one:  Famous users can now upload their own audio to the site.  Fresno bands can create their own profile, upload songs and get them ranked by how many plays...no matter how shitty the music is.

This is the coolest feature to the site since Jarah has left.  Hopefully more Fresno bands will get hip to it so they can bury some of the initial crap on there.

In more Fresnet news, Late Update has done some more upgrading, adding some social networking.

As far as upgrades to The Fresnan...we've got nothin'.  But we promise to do some serious binge drinking fueled brainstorming over the weekend and that is bound to produce some Fresnets gold!

Jarah Talks Famously about Fresno

If ya don't know the story of Jarah Euston and Fresno Famous, here is a quick sum-up:

Native Fresnan Jarah Euston boomeranged to Fresno from New York. Upon her Fresno return, she realized how difficult it was to find out what was happening culturally in Fresno. So she started the website Fresno Famous. It was a wild success. So much so, she was able to sell it and move on to Wharton Business School in Philadephia, where she currently resides.

The Fresnan caught up with her during a winter visit to Fresno. This is what went down:

Fresno Famous in Flames

Fresno's leading website, Fresno Famous, has been having some issues lately.  I'm sure the issues will be fixed in time.  But the question is, Can Famous regain its cyber footing from this and Jarah taking most of the Hipster Mom and Pop feel with her?

Famous Whitewater has done a stellar job of filling in as the resident blogger/writer but it feels like he's been left all alone by the Bee Overlords.
