It's a Gotta Love Fresno inspired Creative Fresno Bartender Challenge tonight at Brick. Battling for your tip money will be See Saw Seen, Nothing To Do and Who Eats Brunch. It goes from 6:30 to 9, promises to be good time Fresno. All proceeds go to the Creative Fresno Mural Project.

Focused On Fresno: 'Twee' Are Open

Big Grand Opening for Twee today as they complete their bold move from Wishon Row to Downtown and The Warnors. Could this be a Wishon Row business trend? We know that Cafe Corazon loves Downtown and there is probably a spot open in the Warnors building... (just trying to start something).

Speaking of Grand Openings and moves, did you go to the brick and mortar version of Dusty Buns last night? Packed!

In case you haven't heard, local foodie website, Taste Fresno, has teamed up with the city of Fresno to encourage Fresnans (and maybe a Clovisian here and there) to eat local. It's called Local Bites.

Once a month they pick a locally owned food eating place to highlight and have a meet-up. Mayor Swear shows up along with other Fresno hot shots and normal shots. They chow, bullshit, have a good time. Wednesday night it's Santa Fe Basque's turn to host. Find out more info here and by watching these two kids eat:

Yardhouse: Finally A Reason To Go To River Park

Fresno is now complete. Went to Yardhouse over the weekend.

Food: good. Atmosphere: good (the keg room is especially impressive). Beer: excellent. So I think we're pretty done here people with chain restaurants moving in to town. It's not going to get better than this (we're kinda over waiting for a Dave & Busters), so let's just call it good.

Now, if somebody would get to work on "Fresno's" for us we're set.

Tonight @ BB's: Bartender Challenge - North Of Shaw vs. South Of Shaw!

Time for another Bartender Challenge from Creative Fresno. You take two (in this case four) Fresnans from whatever and have them bartend against each other for a shift, to see who can earn the most tips. Bartender with the most tips get to brag they were able to raise the most amount of money for Creative Fresno's Mural Project.

Always a cool event and this one has some extra interest as it pits two North Of Shaw Fresnans (Amy Huerta and Austin Ewell) against two South Of Shaw-ers (Eliot Balch and Richard Caglia). We think maybe we can figure out which side has more money, but which side has more givers? Find out at BB's tonight.

Rumors and Speculation: Is Palomino's Done?

UPDATE (OCT 23): It now comes to us from Edward Stewart's blog that somebody in charge of the Tower Theatre building has painted over Josh Wigger's mural on the side of Palomino's. Just like that. No disscussion, it's gone. Even if they had the legal right to do this, it's pretty bad mojo to be doing that, without disscussion, to a Tower District landmark.

ORIGINAL POST (OCT 16): Went to have some dinner at Palomino's in the Tower District this weekend. Couldn't get a table though ... because the place was closed. At 7:00. On a Saturday night.

Called Palomino's earlier in the day and the phone line has been disconnected. Maybe they did a closed-because-we're-dead-when-the-fair-is-in-town thing. But there was no signage stating this or anything else.

And this POSSIBLE closing on the heels of their next door neighbor calling it a day. Plus there's still nothing open in the old Daily Planet space. Can't be easy paying the rent on those Tower Theatre building spaces.

Focused On Fresno: Termite Smoothies

A large portion of Fig Garden Village was tented off Sunday for something.  Either Termites or maybe Gonorrhea. Our Fig favorites too, like Haute Dave's, Hungry Bear Cookies, Jamba Juice, Deli Delicious and Cold Stone. All covered and gassed in.

Think maybe we'll wait a couple days for the fumes to settle down before we get a "Cookie Doughn't Wantsum" ... ahhh who are we kidding, we'd totally walk THROUGH the tent and get Gonorrhea if that's what it would take to get some of their cookie dough goodness.

Do This Tonight: Eat Tacos. Watch Baseball. Drink.

Pretty genius event going on at Chukchansi Park tonight. During the Grizzlies game against the River Cats (Go A's!) will be the Taco Truck Throwdown. Local taco trucks competing for your tastebuds' affection. All the info on the event can be found over at our friendly rivials the Fresno Beehive or Fresno Tacos. Tacos AND Thirsty Thursdays? Look. Out.

Wonder if the Pedal Junkie's will be a taco dashing to it:

In case you didn't see this on The Beehive or on the walls of Facebook or hear about it while standing in line in front of Cafe Corazon: Fresno's own Dusty Buns Bistro Bus has entered into a competition to get on season three of the Food Network's Great Food Truck Race.

How they can win is by getting more online votes than any other food truck in the running. So go vote now. You can vote once a day and give as many as 10 votes to Dusty Buns.

If we were Dusty Buns, secretly, we'd hope we didn't win. Really, after watching some of the episodes, the whole food truck race thing looks like a big pain in the ass. But vote because Dusty Buns doesn't seem to mind working their ass off. Their stellar food and bus is proof of it.

Do not know the story of what happened to Mr. Sushi's window there on Olive in the Tower District. We were totally, like, going to ask and stuff. But the place was closed Monday when we saw this so that's about all the journalisming we're willing to do.

Come on guys, Mr. Sushi may not be the best sushi in town, but it's no reason to go breakin' shit. Or is it?
