Fresno's Labor Day weekend a true Fresnerd succes!

People that think Fresno sucks in the summer can kiss my fresnerd ass. How could a weekend filled with this, suck?

• Found out a best Friend is pregnant while having a large drink at Maroo.
• Almost drowned that friend's first born with an obnoxiously fun pool toy.
• Watched Fresno mariachis play in front of a fig tree at a birthday party.
• Ate tri-tip at a Fresno barbecue with perfect weather.
• Finally experienced Cabo Wabo in Fresno in full working order; so happy that I have another unique venue to bring out of town guests too.
• Watched the Bulldogs beat down the East Coast.
• Had chorizo and eggs with a beautiful woman at Irene's and saw the Frank D there.

So all you Fresno haters can simply: Suck. It.

Saturday Fresgeek: A Full Day of Fresno

Let this be the last time I mention this: The people who say there is nothing to do in Fresno are lazy idiots.

Saturday, might we suggest taking in a complete day of Fresno. There are many other things to do, but this is what a Fresgeek, like myself, suggests.

The day begins at 9:00 am, out at Fresno State, for the Fig Fest. It's all about figs, including booze (Fig Vodka Martinis).

So it's afternoon now and normally you might head out for a movie. Instead of the normal Edwards flicks, go watch something different. Some Fresno film makers (of sorts) are showing Fresno's first movies done The Swede way. If you're not into the film-geekdom, check out some music at Yoshi Now or Rasputin's.

Now it's time to get something to eat and have a drink... or five. Why not try the newest Yosemite Falls Cafe located near Blackstone and Shaw? Then head into the Tower District and listen to some beats on VVV's patio, or just straight up rock it at Audie's.
