Fresno's Bloggiest Item of the Week: HMac Churns it out

Fresno Blogger RecordbookWelcome to Fresno's Bloggiest Moment for the week that was.  A new segment, to be posted every Saturday night at 1:01.  Why that time?  Look, I don't have to explain myself to you.  Alright?  Jerk.

A Fresno blogosphere record was broken on Thursday - even though it never really was a set thing...I guess.  The Fresno Beehive's Heather McLane banged out eight unrelated posts in one day.  Count'em bitches: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

We have no fact checkers here but there's no way that's been done before on the Fresnets.  Surprisingly, there wasn't a weak post among them.

Maybe HMac can teach us how to make ONE post that isn't crap.

Monday Hangover: The Fresnets Version

Because you were to busy living your life this weekend to be checking what happened in Fresno's Blogsphere:

Tvlgfhf Swedes in Fresno:  Brodie Mash announces details for Fresno's first Swede Festival.  No, not the hot Nordic kind.  The nerdy but still cool kind.

Fresno misses it some Campos:  Not only do the Fuego apparently suck now without Campos, they don't have enough help to serve beer to fans wanting to drown their sorrows.

Was it the Best of Fresno?  Did you make it out to Englemann Cellars to catch the show?  I'm sure the Beehive did.

Fresno podcasts are still...podcasting:  We posted a new and instant classic Dorktown, while The View...Fresno countered with a local news celeb for a guest.  Let's hope his boss wasn't listening.

The Overdubs go retail:  Live music from The Overdubs while you sift through seventies knick-knacks and used shirts.  Nice.

So what did we miss?

Monday Hangover: Still Searching For One

Fresno Not much local bloggy happens over a holiday weekend.  So when there isn't much to blog about, ya gotta start digging.  Searching.  And when you search Fresno, our little city isn't the only Fresno that comes up.  No, I'm not talking about Fresno, Texas.  I'm talking about the Brazilian band named "Fresno."

Fresno has been cluttering up my Fresno searches forever and I've always ignored the band.  But a slow blog day means it's time to give in and find out more about these indie rock dudes.

They started out in 2001 with an EP called O Acaso do Erro. Currently there are four members: Lucas, Gustavo, Rodrigo and umm...Rodrigo.  They've made four studio albums, the latest being Rendencao.  And the band has had three songs reach the Hot100Brazil.

The big question is: has Fresno ever been to Fresno?  I don't think so because they may speak Portuguese so maybe they don't tour the states much.  I don't really know actually.  Could somebody search the answer for me?

The Fresnan is Moving on UP!

This blog needs some help.  One goober blogging about random Fresno bands, billboards and comic strips isn't going to cut it anymore.  Somebody needs to be brought in that is all up in Fresno's culture, is cool, doesn't mind sharing space with a nerd and can actually write.  Believe it or not, we found someone that qualifies.

The Fresnan is insanely proud to introduce Devoya Mayo as its newest blogger.  Devoya does too many things in the community to mention.  But I do want to point out one of the coolest: her radio show on 88.1 KFCF called "Move on UP!" (Friday nights at 7), it's the best show on Fresno radio.  Devoya is new to the blogsphere so cut her some slack while she gets her blogger-bearings.  Actually, I doubt you'll need to cut her any slack.

You'll be able to tell the difference between my posts and Devoya's by the "posted by" at the bottom of the posts.  Another way you can tell it's a Devoya post and not mine:  good writing.  Please welcome her guys and thank you for being here Devoya.

World Series of Bulldog Media

There is a little bit of media attention for the Fresno State baseball team (outside of the Bee), as they get set to open it up with Rice (those WAC defecting little bitches).   Here is a nice one from espn.com and one from the Omaha World Herald.

The Bee's Matt James and   Nice to see Matt's clean-ass head and Bryant are slowly coming around to some new media even if their blogging is sporadic.  Be one of...several, to watch what I mean:

Fresno State is on ESPN Sunday at 11:00.

Thursday Blogger Hoping

L_ac6b4b14eeb142b5facaf7737b46390f In honor of, what apparently is, Bloggeradarie* Month, The Fresnan would like to point out where to HOP on Thursday.  Blogger/podcaster Adam Wall will be displaying his furniture magic at Tower Mosaic - I think EdLuv will be up in there too.

Then end your night in the traditional ArtHop way with sometimes blogger/podcaster Malcom Sosa and his band Rademacher at Tokyo Garden.

Nicole causing Fresno neckwear shortage

M_ee521a796ce97cb83f2f1c1feaffae3c Have you ever seen KFRE's Nicole without something around her neck?  Are scarfs, like, her thing or something?  Is she a vampire covering up?  Does she simply like to accessorize?

Or, is there very little for a bad blogger to post about after a holiday weekend?  Yep, that's it.

Indy Gameplaning Time

Indianaposter3 Fresno's blogsphere is already Jonesing for the Fresno inspired Indy 4.  At this point, I'm just worrying about where in Fresno should I see Indy Crystal Skull?  Yes, some other Indy Nerd could say  "I don't know, I'm making this up as I go."  But me, I need a game-plan.

  • SIERRA VISTA.  It's kinda far out there for a Central Fresnan and I don't have Sallah to guide me.  But, it is shinny and new.
  • MANCHESTER.  Probably has the best sound in town (and that can be big for a nerd).  Can get busy and dirty, but will have some opening day energy.
  • EDWARDS.  Fresno's movie mecca for the masses.  Therein lies the problem:  Too many dipshits.  Although, this will be the place for opening day electricity.
  • BROADWAY FAIRE.  This will be the most mellow, which can be good or bad.  But it is well run, important in an event movie opening.
My pick?  Broadway Faire.  The magnitude of the Indiana opening will overcome Broadway's usual mellowness, but it still won't be so crazy that it will get annoying.

Now the only thing left:  Midnight or ThursDAY.

Fresno's Blogsphere Wins Again!

Fresno 024 So what if this proves Fresnans have a chip on their shoulders.  We've earned that damn chip.

First, Fresno bloggers told Toyota to go stick it with their Prius adThey did.  Then we told the state lotto "It's Fresnans, not Fresnians, bitches!"  The lotto folks have agreed - see pic of altered billboard at 99 and Grantland.

So, any other ad agencies want a piece of this Fresnan?  BRING IT!

Thank You Fresno Blogsphere, Thank You

So we told ya about the Central Valley brain drain site.  Then the FresnoBeehive told us about this.  Fresno native Dara Purvis wrote a column [some time ago] about herRawsmaller3 drained Fresno brain.

The only way it could have been better?  If Portland was involved.  I couldn't help join in on the  revived comment war (hopefully, soon to be blog war).  Here was my take on all of the Fresno bashing:

Gotta love the Fresno haters as they chuck rocks at Fresno from 1992.

Thank you for leaving Fresno and please stay away.  It has become a better place because of your absence.  The worst thing about Fresno was all the FresNoers that used to be here.

Every weekend in Fresno is filled with endless cool things to do and great people to do them with.  All this with amazing homes (with pools) for 250,000, Yosemite in our backyard and the beach a brief morning drive away.

I love it here, especially since you lameasses have left.
