It's going to be a very agressive music scene this weekend in Fresno. Lot's of metal on Friday and stuff. Gottafuckin problem with that? Yeah, didn't this so.
Let's Bandgeek:
FRIDAY
STARLINE: In today's metal scene, there aren't a lot of bands playing straight metal/thrash that are under 30. Metalcore/grindcore is where more of the young bands are. That's why it's good to see a band like Ventura's Warbringer out there, being young and relevant while still playing quality "straight" metal. They'll be on Fern street tonight along with Fresno favorites Azazel, Gristle and Nativeburn. Plus Hanford's God Fears Me and Apothesary from Concord. All presented by Diehardz Music. [7pm, $15, 21+]
THE BEL-TOWER: Fresnans have waited long and hard (ehhehheh, hard) to experience crust music from Nova Scotia. FINALLY the day has come: Napalm Raid. The Crue will explain things further:
FULTON 55: San Fran rock & ska band Audiodub plus Long Beach's similar sounding, Starving Millionaires. [9pm, $10, 21+]
KUPPAJOES: A good mix of hardcore, indie and Christian with Heroes [Are Forever] (Fresno), Fallstar (Portland), Operazoo (Madera Ranchos), Kaia Chesney (Tuscon) and A Sequence Of Ghosts (Kansas City). Details:
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: San Diego's ladies of indie/pop rock: Bitter Sober. Also Baby Elephant and Thomas Medrano. [9pm, $5, 21+]
CLUB RETRO: Clovis indie experimental dude, Restaurnaut with Gods & Kings, Total Reliance, plus:
FORBIDDEN TATTOO: All ages metal with Saints Of Insanity and more:
CYC: "Open this pit up!" with Onward To Olympas, Before There Was Rosalyn, Creations, Your Hero Is A Villain and:
SATURDAY
FULL CIRCLE: Fresno's retro pop-rockers, Blake Jones & The Trike Shop are back from they're UK trip and will be playing brand new songs and very old songs Trike Shop fanboys haven't heard in a long while. Also they'll be showing pictures and sharing stories of their UK Tour. Special guests include Peter Mordyk and the songs and singing of David Kelley. Veterans of Fresno's music scene may remember David from his time fronting 2am Orchestra. He is now living in New Zealand and moved some things around so he could come back to Fresno and play this show. [8pm-10:30,$6, 21+]
FULTON 55: Regular visitors to Fresno, LA's alt electronica outfit: Insect. Plus locals Spacehooker and Waffle. Details:
CYC: Benefit show dubbed "Zackfest" with a full FULL day of music only Chinatown would allow:
SUNDAY
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Might be interesting to hear what living in Portland does to country music. These three will give us an idea: Brush Prairie, Ruby Feathers and Sexywaterspiders:
Okay, that's what we found. If you know of a local band playing that's not on here or you just want to update, pimp or just muse about what IS on here, please use the comment section of this post to its fullest!
