Looks like we finally got rid of that lame-ass Portland weather. Like it. Let the sun warm your Fresno Crotch this weekend while you enjoy things like the Fresno Film Festival, tea comedy, Creative Blending, tri-tip cooking and lots of music. Here's the music part:
NEIGHBORHOOD THRIFT: If you remember, SLO/Fresno band, PK, was in the running to get on the cover of Rolling Stone. That's not happening, but what is happening is this goddamgoodshow. With, From Indian Lakes, Sahab, Jonah And The Whale and of course: PK. [$5 8pm All]
FULTON 55: If you're a Rolling Stones fan you're going to want to check this out. Tim Ries: Rolling Stones Project is playing. Tim is a jazz sax player whom is basically a touring member of the Rolling Stones, playing in their horn section. He has an album of Stones songs filtered through a jazz musician's mind and he'll (we assume) be playing that tonight. Also tonight is the Fresno Jazz Composers Orchestra. Tickets. [$16 8pm 21+]
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: These ladies are always a good time ... wait, did that come out right? (that's what she said). No it came out right. They always show Fresno a good time. They're Zepparella. Take a wild guess what band's music they play.
STARLINE: Rock. Local rock. With From the Fallen, Dislodic, Saints of Insanity and Flailing Down. Go:
CYC: From our friends at Religious Appeal, check out Fay Wrays, Touche Amore, Bridges, The Milford Higgins and Tiger Lily. There's no weaknesses in that lineup:
CLUB RETRO: Not sure. It's looking like Club Retro double booked a show here (wouldn't be a suprise). There's one show with Blanky, Fall Of A Tirant and Gristle. Then there is one with We Sunk The Mayflower, Dream Alaska, The World As We Know it and Spirit Descending. Both would start at 7 and be around $10 and all-ages. Hummm. Sounds like the bands will have to fight for it. Sweet!
KUPPAJOES: No show this weekend.
FULL CIRCLE BREWERY: All weekend long, it's a big benefit show called "The Gathering". Check out the event page for more info.
SATURDAY
FULTON 55: Local bluesman Cole Fonseca plus Tommy And The High Pilots. Tickets here. [$10 8:30 21+]
THE BEL-TOWER: Double up your Blanky time this weekend, plus Weekend Fm (Chicago, IL), Corsair, I Do Not Exist, We Sunk the Mayflower and Glamour Tronic:
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: So it's Deborah Iyall of Romeo Void, The FreeShow & DJ 4AM. [$6 8pm 21+]:
THE BABYLON: Rock physcobilly with The Pendletons (Modesto), Frankenstein 59 (Sonora) and on band we thinks are seriously from Russia: Jailbreak. Do NOT miss the chance to go up to one of these guys with your best Drago voice and say "I must break you." [$10 8:30 21+]
SUNDAY
THE BEL-TOWER: RWARRRRRR! RAGE FEST!:
Okay, that's what we found. If you know of a local band playing that's not on here or you just want to talk about what IS on here, please use the comment section to pimp away!
