Not much time. Too much music to get through. So let's get it. Let's BANDGEEK!!
FRIDAY
THE BEL-TOWER: Once A tour to celebrate the realness of the Manbearpig (Finally somebody said it. Maybe Weird Fresno should cover this) has turned into the Fuck Van Flips show. Good touring acts like Triumph Over Ship Wreck, to go along with locals Your Hero Is A Villain and Sounds & Sciences. Sadly it's also the last show for the Fresno band with our favorite name: Plastic Bag Facemask. Note the early start! [$6 4:30]
TOKYO GARDEN: Active Downtown tonight, Tokyo is appropriately a part of it with Thrid Rail Power Trip. [$4 9:45]
KUPPAJOES: A lot of touring action with, Goodnight Caulfield and A Life Set Apart (Eagle, ID). Plus locals Drag Me To Shore and Clovis band Vegas Is North. [$7 7:30]
FULL CIRCLE BREW: More Fresno musicians doing nice stuff please. Food Not Bombs is what bands like Blake Jones & The Trike Shop and Suicide Lounge:
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Like most everybody, really could use some Electric Grease about now. Some Midnight Howlers and Switchblade 327 couldn't hurt either:
CLUB RETRO: Upstart Fresno songstress/band Siren Singing (we thinks), The Great Conversation, plus Vice City's Drown The Heroand more:
THAI PALMS: It's only like the first ever Marky Chavez (Adema) has played acoustic all bys himselves ... in front of Fresnans anyway:
SATURDAY
THE TREASURY: Nice to have Love The Captive promoting a show again. It's a good one too with German turned Californian, Maren Parusel. The music is "beat-driven melodic and catchy, but poetic at the same time." Sounds good. And by the way, they're heading to SXSW too.
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Some straight up really good American music right here with Larry and his Flask, The Whiskey and the Devil Chaplain and more:
CYC: Tape release show for Grow (yes, you read that right, tape release). With Tiger Lilly, Blackwater and Gorilla Stomp. [Free 6pm]
THE BEL-TOWER: Hardcore, metal and grindcore is what's in store for you with Buried At Birth, Years Of Aggression, Mange, Desacrator and more... [$3 6pm]
THE BABYLON: Double up with Mezcal and DB & The Strugle [$7 9pm]
STARLINE: If you're a Missing Persons fan then we suppose that makes you a Dale Bozzio fan:
THE LAMP POST: Two more underrated Fresno bands, Lezayr and Basura, playing. Girls get in free to this one! [$5 9pm]
FULTON 55: Spanish rocking for a Fulton changeup with Ratasan, Bird Mad Girl and more:
SUNDAY
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Dollar Punk Night returns with our punk boys, It'll Grow Back and more. [$1 8pm]
That's all of the stuff we found and it was a ton. If you know of a local band playing that's not on here or you just want to talk about what IS on here, please leave a comment. [Future submissions: mike@thefresnan.com]
Get out and enjoy Fresno!!
