If you've been OD-ing on liking things this week, you probably need a beer. Several, in fact. And music. You need music. Live stuff. Bands. This post is here to help. Help you blow off 2010 and Walmart related things with bands and beer. Let's get to 2011 already. Let's BANDGEEEEEK!
FRIDAY
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Ending one year and begining a new one at Audie's feels right. Especially with 40 Watt Hype and the Viper City Brass Band:
STARLINE: Our most good buddy, Blake Jones (he of Trike Shop fame), also has a Beatles tribute band called The Beetles. They haven't played in a while but are coming back strong tonight as they will attempt to play 40+ Beatles songs. Blake says "...it's actually a perversion of the very last public Beatle gig - Summer '66 at Candlestick Park." Sounds like Ringo would approve. Info:
THE RANCH: The below 21 crowd deserves to celebrate the New Year too. Looks like Elmo Marconi is back - hell and yes. Bridges and Touch Football is there too. Plus there is an after-party.
BABYLON: Party big with Death Alley Motor Cult, Patrick Contreras, Keeney and much more:
HOUSE SHOW: Yes! Another option for the 18 and up peoples. This one is a little more hardcore with Beauty Becomes Beast, Corsair and Antidote For Anxiety. Info:
FULL CIRCLE: Microbrew and blues-folk with Fresno's Roger Perry. [8pm $15]
SATURDAY
THAI PALMS: So there are now three venues in this one Pinedale North Fresno center that are willing to be a music venue. Good thing, even North of Herndon. Playing is Lezayr, Homebrew and a band we haven't seen around in a while: Buffalo Guns. [8:00, $TBD]
THE BEL-TOWER: If you're a fan of Manic Relapse you better get out and see this show because it's their last. Plus Sex Prisoner and more:
STARLINE: Premium Madera metal with Synerza, plus Grooveyard and more. [9pm $?]
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Saturday night blues show with Baby Bee, Ro Harpo and more. [8pm $10]
Alright. Nice way to start off the year. If you have something to add or promote this weekend, leave it in the comments! Be safe, take a cab, call grandma, whatever, have fun.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRESNO!
