Hey! Somebody tell that Old Dude and Detroit Face that after their little talk at Fresno State, there is some kickass live music going on they should totally check out. They won't raise any funds by going but we're willing to contribute to their campaigns by buying them a beer or two. Let's see where some good spots are to take them...
Let's BANDGEEK!
FRIDAY
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Fundraiser for one of our few independent radio stations in town, KFCF 88.1 with Glen Delpit and Good Medicine. [5pm $10]
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Later, after the above show is over, Mr. entertainment, Brian Kenny Fresno, frequent Fresno visitor, Lightnin Woodcock and Benny and the Vets. [10pm $5]
TOWER THEATRE: As we learned from Mike Oz, there's a big show happening tonight at the historic theater. The Grammy Award winning Fresno native, Eugene Friesen, is headlining. Our most favorite mandolin player ever, Eva Scow, is playing too along with more jazzy important people like Tim Ray (Lyle Lovett buddy) and UC Berkley's Ted Moore. [8pm $25,$35]
>>>Yeah, are you thinking Friday looks a little thin? Well, Club Retro and Kuppajoe's are off this weekend (Joe's had a cancellation from band sicknesses) and we can't find what (if anything) is going on at Starline and Babylon. So there. If you know then leave a comment, dude.
SATURDAY
SANGER HOUSE SHOW: Don't be a douche and call the cops, okay? You wouldn't want to ruin the return of The Escorts or mess up a set from Tokyo Death March, would you?
CYC: Could anybody that lives in Santa Barbara ever really be hardcore? We can find out Saturday in Chinatown with SB's Downpresser. Plus, Rise, Leeches, Anxiety Attack, Creatures and maybe Xibalba. Details:
AUDIE'S OLYMPIC: Love The Captive have done it again, bringing in something different for Fresnans: Ely Guerra. They explain "Monterrey, Mexico-born alt-rocker Ely Guerra is one of the most original and arresting musicians Mexico has produced and one of the most intriguing songwriters in Mexican rock. [9pm $20] This would be Ely:
STARLINE: A big charity show for National Livestrong Day. Fresno classic: MoFo Party Band plus Fresno guitarist and songwriter: Trey Tosh. There is also a silent auction and raffles. [8pm $10 donation]
>>>That's about it. If you've got a show this weekend or want to talk about these, maybe review something, please be kickass and leave a comment. Anything else like tips on future shows, email: mike@thefresnan.com
Get out and enjoy Fresno!
